[DA] RAJA and Ranpak enter commercial agreement

1min read 08/05/2024

The agreement covers the development of paper-based protective packaging and the recruitment of 20 specialists by RAJA.

RAJA and Ranpak, a leading supplier of paper-based packaging, have signed a new commercial agreement to increase their sales of paper-based cushioning solutions in Europe.

Under the agreement, RAJA and Ranpak will collaborate on the development of paper-based cushioning solutions using Ranpak’s research and development centre in Kerkrade, the Netherlands, and feedback from RAJA’s customers. The agreement also plans to commercialise new packaging solutions for temperature-sensitive products (e.g. food, medicine). Finally, RAJA will employ 20 additional specialists to advise its customers on the customised implementation of paper-based protection and cushioned packaging.

“The agreement with Ranpak will allow RAJA to develop unique expertise in paper-based cushioning solutions in Europe. Companies are increasingly turning to easily recyclable packaging, but every customer is different and has unique needs. Some are looking for automated solutions, others are not. We aim to provide the same level of service, quality and technical expertise to every customer across Europe,” said Catherine Cambier, Managing Director, RAJA Packaging and Industrial Equipment.

The agreement between RAJA and Ranpak is designed to meet the growing demand for alternatives to plastic packaging. In March 2024, new rules were agreed in the European Union that aim for 100% recyclable packaging by 2030.

RAJA and Ranpak have been long-time partners. In the 1980s, RAJA was the first distributor to market Ranpak packaging systems in Europe.
