This year, the Nordic packaging industry set new standards with 39 innovative packaging solutions from Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark participating in ScanStar 2024 – a prestigious competition organised by the Scandinavian Packaging Association (SPA) since 1969. Each year ScanStar brings together some of the most cutting-edge solutions in packaging design and sustainable packaging, and in 2024 there was a special focus on green solutions that meet both environmental concerns and consumer needs. The many creative designs and sustainable material choices in this year’s competition emphasise the Nordic packaging industry’s commitment to a greener future.
Record number of entries demonstrates innovative progress
With 39 entries in 2024, ScanStarsaw an unprecedented number of entries, demonstrating strong growth in the Nordic packaging industry. The jury, which awarded 25 prizes this year, was impressed by the quality and had a hard time choosing winners as the many entries raised the bar for sustainability and functionality. The awards were distributed with 10 to Finland, 8 to Sweden, 4 to Norway and 3 to Denmark, clearly showing that all countries offered inspiring solutions.

Award-winning examples of sustainable packaging
RAJA Scandinavia secured 2 out of the 3 Danish awards, confirming RAJA’s strong position and dedication to quality and innovation. Below you can read what the jury had to say about the two award-winning products and how RAJA’s solutions create added value for their customers.
- RAJA’s Thermal Insulating Kraft Paper – Recycold™ Climaliner RANPAK
This plastic-free packaging material is specially developed for food and products that need to be kept cold during transport. Made from recycled materials, Recycold™ delivers both good insulation and environmental friendliness. The jury praised the solution as a “good initiative to avoid plastic” and emphasised the dust-free production.
- RAJA’s Paper-based Safety Tape
This tape combines sustainability and safety. Unlike traditional plastic tapes, the paper tape can easily be recycled along with the cardboard box, making the process simpler for consumers. The jury emphasised that the tape protects the contents as well as other materials and contributes to more sustainable waste management.
