The key to successful packaging

The number of e-shops in the Czech Republic is increasing every year. There are now something like 40,000 e-shops in the Czech Republic and they already have a 13% share of the retail market. E-shops are constantly improving, developing their services and expanding their product portfolios, and competition among them is growing. The goal of every e-shop should be to reach the customer with the packaging alone – take a look at the packaging designed for e-shops. Because it is the packaging and the goods inside that is the only physical contact between the e-shop and the customer. We have some tips that are guaranteed to be a hit with customers!

1) Find the right packaging that clearly differentiates you

Durable, practical and attractive – immediate identification of the company is important. You need to remember – am I an e-shop with luxury goods? Am I an e-shop with organic cosmetics? Then the packaging itself and its aesthetics should look accordingly.

2) Go green

3) The right size packaging saves on postage costs

But don’t forget about the right size of the box either. If you are sending different sized goods, opt for boxes with adjustable height. Because of the empty space inside the box, you pay higher shipping costs.

Clothing e-shops, but not only those, are faced with complaints every day. So how can you make it easier for customers to return goods? Ideal solutions are boxes with double adhesive strip and perforation thread. After receiving the goods, the customer opens the box with the perforating thread – this way the box does not have to be cut anywhere. But unfortunately the goods do not meet expectations, are non-functional or the shoes simply do not fit. The customer puts the goods back into the box and reseals them with a second adhesive strip.

5) Choose the correct filling and fixing of the goods

To ensure the safety of the goods being transported, you need to think about which fixing and filling material to choose and what role it plays inside the packaging:

  • Empty space filler
  • Protection of the surface of the goods
  • Antistatic effect
  • Shock absorption

We must not forget the presentation of the goods. Are you familiar with Geami WrapPak? Kraft paper protects the goods from damage and tissue paper adds elegance.

6) Proper closure

We have the goods inside the box, secured with the right fixing material, and we can close the packaging. For differently heavy boxes, we also recommend the correct choice of adhesive tape. Up to 20 kg, PP adhesive tape is sufficient. Above 30 kg we recommend a thick PVC tape. Printed adhesive tapes are also an option, which again give your brand good visibility.

7) Label your shipments well

This is the last detail, but very important. Of course, a label with the customer’s delivery details is a must, but don’t forget the instructions for the carrier. With warning labels, you can prevent damage to your goods.

8) Last details

You already know from us that personalised packaging is an essential element of effective company presentation. But don’t forget to give the customer some added value too. We recommend a few small details that can appeal to the customer and simply make them feel better about buying from your e-shop:

  • Product samples
  • A thank you card and a discount on your next purchase
  • Brochure, catalogue
  • Invoice or complaint report in a fun way
