Reliable protection during the transport of goods is very important! This includes, of course, not only high-quality packaging, but also the right filling material, which protects not only against shocks and shocks, but also against other influences during transport. But what is the best fixing and filling material?
Which materials you use depends entirely on individual factors: How big and heavy are the goods to be transported? Do you want to ship particularly environmentally friendly? How sensitive are your products, e.g. scratch protection or do you need to pay special attention to electronic components?
As a general rule: for heavy goods, always choose a thicker, stronger filling material; too soft a material cannot cope with the weight and thus destroys the desired protective effect! For lightweight products, a soft filler material is suitable.
Packing with air cushions, foam foil or fixing granules
If you want to send fragile items or sensitive goods, this form is the ideal packaging solution. These materials are lightweight, low self-weight and very flexible, making them perfectly adaptable to any product.
Completely encased in bubble wrap, the product is protected on all sides against impact and shock. But also here it applies: the heavier the product, the larger the size of the bubbles must be! Bubble wrap with small bubbles wraps delicate, lightweight items better, while bubble wrap with large bubbles is suitable for sharp-edged, massive products. There are bubble films specifically for electrostatically sensitive products that protect against electrostatic charge during transport.
Packaging materials made of foam film provide particularly soft protection. Like bubble wrap, foam film is lightweight, shock-proof and easy to handle. The foam film is very gentle on the surface and thus prevents scratching of the product. It also protects against unwanted fingerprints. You can safely wrap fragile items such as glasses and vases, but also goods with sensitive surfaces such as touch-sensitive tablets or medical devices.
The cushioning properties of the fixing granules also have a damping effect: they fill the cavities and ensure that the product is fixed in the box. Whether the goods are square or round, the fixation granules adapt to every shape and protect the goods from impact. For great stability and durability, the granules can simply be reused in the next shipment.
Paper fixing material
Whoever thinks that air pads and foam film are the only way to protect is wrong! Paper materials also have a lot to offer. From classic brown wrapping paper, to corrugated cardboard and crumpled paper, to fine tissue paper, in short, everything you need for filling voids and surface protection!
Use it for storage, transport or as a moving helper. The environmentally friendly filling material will wrap and protect a wide range of products. Also, wrapping papers are available in different variations depending on whether a machine part or a porcelain vase will be packed. Tear-resistant but soft to the surface, they absorb shock and protect against scratches. Classic corrugated cardboard offers natural protection: the waves act as a shock absorber! Thanks to the transverse grooves, it can be used as a flexible protection for a packaged product or folded as a filler.
The tissue paper looks very nice and high quality. The soft tissue paper is not only suitable as a filler, for wrapping, but also as a decoration! Different colours allow this material to be used as gift paper at the same time. This decorative paper material fills even the smallest of spaces. Due to its colourful nature, it is suitable for wrapping gifts such as gift baskets where it is not obvious at first glance that it is a “normal” filling material.
The reliable classic also helps with filling: eco-friendly crepe paper fills all kinds of cavities and protects the contents of the carton from shifting. With little consumption, this filling option can be quickly made by hand from sheets of paper. For large-scale packaging, professional filling machines are available. The eco-friendly filler is produced in the same way by “squeezing”.
It doesn’t matter which one you choose. With the right filler, you will optimally fill each box and thus protect your products on the move.
