Earth Day with RAJA and HSM

2min read 22/04/2022

Earth Day is an internationally recognised day of significance that has been commemorated in more than 175 countries around the world. It is a day to remind us that the planet we inhabit is unique and should be cared for. That climate change is happening and will eventually affect us all. That is why we need to look for ways to minimise these changes and not be afraid to lead by example.

HSM is just such an example. They are trying to minimise the consumption of natural resources or replace them with renewable resources. It does this by using waste heat from its own production for heating and by using solar panels and gas micro-turbines for part of its energy. When the energy is not in use, it is then stored in reservoirs for later use.

The company’s philosophy is also reflected in their products. HSM shredders are an example. They do consume electricity, but only when they are actually shredding. When they are not in use they go into standby mode or switch off directly. This reduces their consumption to less than 0.1W. Most of their shredders are even Blue Angel certified for sustainability.

RAJA, as Europe’s largest seller of packaging materials, also feels a strong responsibility for the environmental management of packaging and so brings a wide range of environmentally responsible packaging. In addition, it is committed to educating and influencing its customers to behave in an environmentally responsible way. This is of great interest to them, especially if, if done correctly, it can also bring savings. We’ve summarised our tips combining environmental responsibility and a way to not skimp on savings into 5 packaging principles. We hope they will be an inspiration to you.
