[FR] Sativa Rheinau: shipping seeds and plants with RAJA

Sativa Rheinau AG is an organic seed company offering more than 600 varieties of vegetables, herbs, flowers, green manures and more for professional use and kitchen gardens. Since 2009, the company has relied on the expertise of RAJA Switzerland to ship its fragile “green” products. Together, they ensure that each consignment reaches its final destination in perfect condition.

Can you tell us who Sativa Rheinau is?

Sativa Rheinau is an organic seed company with over 600 varieties of vegetables, herbs, flowers, green manures and more for professional use and vegetable gardens. We also focus on developing new varieties specially adapted to the conditions of organic cultivation. We are committed to supplying independent, non-genetically modified seeds for organic farming.

Our plant seeds come from around 120 small and medium-sized organic farms in Switzerland and neighbouring regions. We supply our customers mainly in Switzerland, but also in EU countries. Sativa was founded in 1998.

How long have you been working in partnership with RAJA and what packaging solutions does Sativa use?

We work mainly with RAJA for the purchase of shipping packaging. We currently order around ten crates of different sizes and types. We can also call on RAJA for all kinds of additional products, such as adhesive tape, document bags and stretch film for pallets. We started working together in November 2009. Back then, we ordered crates and trolleys.

What is important to you when shipping a product?

At Sativa, we ship around 30,000 parcels a year. Many of these orders contain fragile, living products (plants and seeds). So it’s important to protect them as much as possible. Good packaging is crucial in this respect. Thanks to RAJA, we have found solutions that perfectly meet our shipping needs.

Did you deliberately choose sustainable packaging?

Given that we mainly sell organic products, we consider sustainability to be an important factor. If there is a more sustainable alternative to traditional packaging, we always choose it. For example, in the past we tested a stretch film made from 80% recycled materials. We were immediately very pleased with it and have decided to order it from RAJA from now on.

Why did you choose RAJA Switzerland?

Since I started my career here, we have worked with RAJA. The global offer that RAJA can provide us with is the one that offers the most possibilities and advantages. We attach great importance to the short delivery times and the wide range of products. If we need new products, we can always find a solution at RAJA. What’s more, our customer service is excellent!

Recently, we’ve also been sending young plants by post. To do this, we needed a single box that would ensure that the plants arrived intact at our customers’ premises. Working with RAJA, we were able to develop a customised crate. From day one, we received positive feedback from our customers. This is proof of the great success that Sativa and RAJA have been able to build together.
