Blade that you have to slide manually in or out of the handle. | Blade that retracts automatically after cutting (release the slider). | Blade that retracts automatically after cutting – even if you hold the slider down. | Blade that will not retract not exposedthis is the optimum protection against cuts and damage. |
Four types of cutters to suit your work
► 1. Breakaway blade cutter
This cutter has a blade that is broken off as soon as the tip is dull, so you always have a razor sharp blade at your disposal. In the case of a breakaway blade cutter, the blade must be manually pushed back into the handle after cutting. Keep this in mind, as an exposed blade can be a safety hazard. Another point of caution is that the blade should not be slid back too far, and especially not all the way back when you start cutting.
