Tips for packaging ceramics and glass

2min read 23/10/2014

If we think of a fragile element par excellence, surely glass or ceramics come to mind, however, despite their fragility, glass or ceramic objects can be protected so that they do not suffer damage during transport, transport or storage. We give you some tips on how to do this

  • First wrap with tissue paper to avoid scratches, you can use white or coloured paper if you need the packaging to look more special
  • Fill the inside and gaps of the object, you can use fillers or crumpled paper
  • Wrap any protruding parts with paper or bubble wrap, and then wrap the whole item, so that it is compact, with no protruding parts that could be knocked, e.g. handles or other protrusions
  • If the object is of great value, it is a good idea to put it in a box with foam packing bags, it is sufficient to place one on top and one underneath to avoid scratches and knocks.
  • If you are going to wrap several objects in a pile (e.g. plates), it is better to separate them with a sheet of cardboard and then pack them all in bubble wrap. If you are not going to transport them, the outer covering is not necessary and it would be better to separate them with honeycomb cardboard

  • For fragile items, always use double channel cardboard boxes that maintain rigidity to protect the product even if they are stacked
  • Place padding under and on top of fragile items to keep them secure in the centre of the box, you can use filler chips, bubbles or air pillows, among other padding systems
  • Don’t forget to seal well with adhesive tapethe packaging according to its weight and its destination (storage, transport, transfer,…)
  • A fragility labelwill help to give it the right treatment if you are going to send it.
