e-commerce trend #1: user experience

We’ve been talking about it for a long time, but the Adobe and Magento study confirms it for 2020: user experience is crucial for a successful e-commerce site. On the one hand, it ‘s the mobile experience that online merchants should be concerned about this year. 22% of French people say they are sensitive to the good functioning of the site on their smartphone. An e-commerce trend that is all the more prevalent among young users (25 to 34 years old): 43% of them believe that a good mobile experience is essential when shopping online. In 2020, they will also have to think about

  • Optimise the relevance of your e-shop’s “Search” function: this is a priority quality criterion for 51% of French people
  • Offer a fast and ergonomic user path: 22% of respondents felt that the ideal path should not exceed 2 minutes, from product selection to the end of payment
  • Personalise and target communication: 21% of users would stop buying from an e-commerce site that suggested products that did not meet their expectations, and 23% would unsubscribe from a non-targeted newsletter

  • Choose green packaging: 40% of French people believe that drastically reducing the use of materials such as plastic, polystyrene and bubble wrap is a key factor in their choice of e-tailer. So remember to use eco-friendly boxes, cartons, pouches and cushioning solutions. Don’t hesitate to look for the right packaging for your needs in our selection of environmentally friendly packaging.
  • Reduce the environmental impact of your transport: 28% of French people are sensitive to retailers who strive to minimise the overall emissions linked to production and transport. To do this, you can apply the ColisConsult method to reduce the weight and volume of your parcels. Less empty space in your packaging means fewer unnecessary CO2 emissions and a lower transport bill!
  • Communicate about your actions. To ensure that your potential or existing customers see that you are following the eco-responsibility e-commerce trend, don’t hesitate to highlight your actions in all your communication media. The Greenweez e-commerce site is a real example in this respect: discover the interview with their deputy general manager, for inspiration, here.
