Gastro operation and packaging materials

You can’t do without packaging materials when supplying any gastro establishment. Transporting a variety of goods, including beverages and food, is a very important component of your foodservice business.

Make the most of the potential of modern packaging materials. By choosing the right packaging, you will increase the efficiency of the transport process and minimise the risk of damage to your goods. Well-managed packaging logistics will ultimately save you time and money. Find out how to do it.

Gastro transport packaging

The main purpose of transport packaging is to protect your goods. The packaging itself and the contents of the actual product are exposed to many risks during transport. The specific characteristics of the goods must therefore always be considered and adapted to when choosing gastro packaging.

The same applies to the use of filling materials or fixation. This varies depending on whether you are transporting goods individually or on a pallet.

Did you know that products transported on a pallet, which holds a greater number of individual packages, are at less risk of dropping and damage?

How to choose the right packaging?

The range of foodservice packaging is becoming increasingly complex. How do you choose the right one tailored to your operation? There are two key questions to answer:

  1. What goods do you need to protect during transport? Take into account its characteristics: size, weight, fragility and whether it can be handled, tilted, etc., or whether it needs to be kept at a certain temperature (chilled, frozen).
  2. Then define how the transport will take place. Will the packaged goods be handled manually or will you use palletised transport? Do not forget to take into account the conditions of subsequent storage of the goods in the catering facility.

Fragile goods

Some products require special care during transport – for example, beverages. To protect them from damage, we recommend using packaging fillers to provide additional protection during transport.

You can reach for classic bubble wrap or air cushions made of plastic, or use eco-friendly fillers and fixings, which are widely represented in the RAJA e-shop range.

Eco-friendly packaging

The vast majority of goods intended for catering establishments can be transported in cardboard packaging, especially in flap boxes. These eco-friendly packages have many advantages: they are economical, practical, lightweight, easily recyclable and offer an almost unlimited range of sizes.

Cardboard packaging materials are – even in the context of transporting goods to catering establishments – an eco-friendly and logical alternative that saves not only the planet but also your pocket.
