Respect, solidarity and professional equality for women: The foundation “RAJA – Danièle Marcovici”, founded in 2006 by Danièle Kapel-Marcovici, Managing Director of the RAJA Group, is committed to these values. Since 2006, the foundation has already supported 340 projects of 218 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and thus assisted around 55,000 women worldwide. At the beginning of September, the German subsidiary Rajapack GmbH launched an action programme to specifically support three projects in Germany: From 1 September 2016 to 28 February 2017, RAJA will donate one euro from the profit for each packaging unit sold of four products that are in particularly high demand to the action programme entitled “Perspectives for Women”.
Perspectives for Women
With “Perspectives for Women”, RAJA Germany is adopting a concept that the RAJA Group has already successfully implemented. With the group-wide programme Women and the Environment, almost 480,000 euros have been collected within the European RAJA Group since September 2015, benefiting a total of 8 projects. “This success, as well as the experience we have gained in recent years at the local level in supporting the Ettlingen women’s and family meeting place effeff e.V., for example in the area of language support, have encouraged us to get involved with women nationwide as well. This is more necessary today than ever before,” says Harald Schönfeld, General Director at Rajapack GmbH.
“The action programme is therefore a real affair of the heart for the entire German team. It is with great pride and care that, at the instigation of Danièle Kapel, Managing Director of the RAJA Group and founder of the RAJA-Danièle Marcovici Foundation, we have selected three organisations that fully correspond to the values of the Foundation,” says Harald Schönfeld.
Long-term commitment for girls and women
The choice fell on a total of three non-profit associations that work for women in this country with their projects in the areas of vocational training and further education, social integration and protection against violence. All three organisations were convincing not only with their general approach but also with their reliable help for women and girls in different life situations – and with their commitment they impressively fight for the three basic values of the foundation: respect, solidarity and professional equality. Other important criteria in the selection process were a stable, long-standing experience in their project work, the long-term nature of the assistance they provide and the successes they already have to show in their work.
Training and equal opportunities
The Frankfurter Verein zur beruflichen Förderung von Frauen e.V.(Frankfurt Association for the Professional Advancement of Women) (https://www.vbff-ffm.de/) supports migrant women and mothers who have not completed their education in re-entering the labour market after the family phase. The donation from RAJA will benefit around 25 young women with a migration background and refugee experience who are currently in a vocational preparation course for nursing care for the elderly and nurses or are already undergoing training.
Social integration
Homeless children and their mothers are the focus of the Munich HORIZONT e.V.(https://www.horizont-muenchen.org/) The association, founded by Jutta Speidel, offers affected persons temporary shelter and helps them back to a self-determined life with care services. With RAJA's commitment, the organisation finances one of two family coaches. For eight hours a week, they help mothers to strengthen their relationship with their child.
Protection from violence
The anonymous Berlin crisis centre PAPATYA(https://papatya.org/) protects girls and young women with a migration background from the consequences of cultural and family conflicts: in a protected space, girls threatened by their families find peace to reflect and a safe environment. RAJA's donation supports the online counselling service "SIBEL" (www.sibel-papatya.org) through which girls and women from Germany and abroad can anonymously contact PAPATYA.
Long-term commitment for girls and women
In the future, customers will be able to contribute to a better perspective for women in Germany in the long term with their order. Rajapack GmbH will officially hand over the amount collected as part of the “Perspectives for Women” action programme to the three organisations next year during the week of International Women’s Day (8 March 2017). More information about the “Perspectives for Women” programme can be found on the company blog at https://www.rajapack.de/verpackungsnews/perspektiven-fuer-frauen/ and in the current catalogue.
