Why the action programme “Perspectives for Women” will continue in 2021

3min read 15/01/2021

Perhaps you have read it before, the approach that companies not only have a corporate but also a social responsibility. What exactly does that mean? At RAJA, we understand this to mean not only making ourselves strong for our company’s success, but also making sure that our employees are doing well, that we are committed to environmental protection and that we make ourselves strong for people who are not in as positive an economic position as RAJA.

For this reason, the action programme “Perspectives for Women” was launched in 2016. Since then, more than 320,000 euros (as of January 2021) have already been distributed to three organisations in Germany that we have selected and which primarily support women and their rights.

PAPATYA

This includes on the one hand Papatya in Berlin. Papatya is a crisis shelter where girls are given refuge, especially those who are threatened by violence, abduction or murder in their families. The girls in the shelter draw strength from joint activities and discussions about what they have experienced. The contemplative Christmas party was a new experience for many. By the way, it resulted in a self-written story. With pleasure read. Papatya needs money for the shelter, for its anonymous online counselling service SIBEL, but also for the return of abducted girls who call for help from abroad.
This year, the shelter urgently needs to be renovated and this is exactly what the RAJA donations will be used for in 2021.

VbfF

On the other hand, we support the Vbff in Frankfurtan association for the professional advancement of women. The VbfF supports women, especially but not only with a migration background, in their (re)entry into working life. This involves further education or language and job application training. The RAJA donations generally finance the language courses. During Corona, however, the donations came just in time to convert the women to digital lessons. Loan laptops, headsets, training on how to use the online learning tool. In the new blog WANDA, the VbfF reports precisely on their experiences with the switch to digital learning. Exciting.

HORIZONT

Last but not least, our action programme also supports the Horizont e.V. in Munich. This organisation takes care of homeless women and their children, offers a temporary home, a day care centre, homework supervision and supports them in dealing with the authorities, finding a flat and making a new start. Currently, 72 families live in the 2 Horizont houses. In the first lock-down in spring, many services had to be closed. The first task was to equip all the facilities with disinfectants and to ensure the food supply for all residents. The school children were gradually provided with laptops on loan. Since then, more and more PC courses have been offered, which, also independently of Corona, help to prepare the new beginning for a self-determined life. Despite the closure of workshops and care facilities, holiday camps were held in the summer and projects such as the planting of a small vegetable garden or the establishment of bee colonies on the roofs of the residential buildings were realised. Take a look at Horizont’s review of the year!

By buying one of our 11 selected, environmentally friendly charity products, you support the action programme “Perspectives for Women” and thus also the above-mentioned associations, because 1€ per packaging unit sold will be donated. Good for society, good for the environment. Also in 2021.
