Everyone likes to give and receive gifts. Some people brood for weeks on the idea of an original gift (including original wrapping, of course!). Others go for the simple last-minute solution… Don’t want to miss out and still looking for a creative idea? Then opt for one of these 13 simple designs. Quickly take scissors, glue and ribbons out of the drawer and get to work yourself!
Original ideas to wrap your gift creatively
► 1. Minimalism with cords
We’ll stop first at one of the easiest ideas from our list. For these, all you need is some string or cord. Just wrap them around your gift wrap to instantly give your present that little extra touch.
► 2. Dots and speckles
For our second idea, we need some paint. You can easily brighten up a plain gift paper with colourful dots and speckles. For example, you can apply the dots using a pencil end with an eraser or an ear stick. To make the work progress even faster, you can even use bubble wrap.
► 3. Stamping
]Geometric patterns, original figures, letters… They easily add a personal touch to your packaging. You can quickly make your own stamps with the following trick: take a small baking tin and cut out its pattern in half a potato. You then dip the cut end of the potato into some paint. After that, you’re ready to stamp!
► 4. Simple decoration with stickers
One of the quickest ways to personalise your gift is with stickers. You can find them in all colours and sizes. Without too much crafting, your gift will look pimped.
► 5. Sparkly adhesive tape
]Adhesive tape is primarily used to glue your gift wrap shut. However, you can get much more out of it. When combined with confetti or glitter, sticky tape turns into a colourful and festive ribbon.
► 6. Seasonal flowers and plants
With flowers and plants you play perfectly with the season. Bright flowers in spring, colourful leaves in autumn, or a pine branch at Christmas? Originality guaranteed!

Photos often evoke fun memories. For example, do you need to wrap a birthday present? Then why not use a photo of the birthday boy or girl? Holiday photos also do very well with this wrapping idea, by the way.
► 8. Recycle your plastic bags
Do you still have some colourful plastic bags that could use a second life? Then transform them into original packaging for your gift.
► 9. Consider an extra thought
Tie a gift into the ribbon of your packaging for a nice added value. That little gift can serve as a hint to the content of the gift, for example.
► 10. Combine motifs and colours
Double-sided wrapping paper makes it simple to combine different motifs and colours to go with one gift. They give your packaging a bit more dynamism and appeal.
► 11. Writable gift paper
With writable black gift paper, your entire gift becomes a big chalkboard. What could be more personal than a gift paper with your own message, straight from the heart?
► 12. Confetti disco dip
For this wrapping tip, you need two things: glue and confetti, preferably lots of confetti! First coat your gift wrap with some glue. Then dip it in a bowl of confetti. By the way, you can also use that colourful confetti to fill a bag.
► 13. Combine two layers of wrapping paper
For our last idea, you will need two layers of paper. Best to use two contrasting colours for the clearest effect. In the outer layer of paper you then cut some fun motifs. Even for a real packaging layperson, this is an easy way to score with an original gift from now on.
