Paper tubes for shipping: which one to choose?

Paper tubes are recommended for shipping a variety of printed materials. These can be posters, maps, photographs, drawings, sketches, etc. There are three main types of mailing tubes: round, square and triangular.

For effective protection of your printed products, you can insert them rolled up in the cardboard tubes, which are designed to prevent damage to the product during transport and storage.

Advantages of cardboard tubes for shipping

By using the cardboard tubes you ensure various printed materials arrive intact at their destination without being damaged by stains, water damage or by being bent. This is possible because:

– They are made of cardboard with kraftliner outer surface. A material that has great resistance to impact.
– Easily closed with either a lid or tape.
– The paper tubes are available in several sizes, so your company can choose exactly the paper tube that fits the dimensions of your products.
You may be thinking: There are many different types of paper tubes for shipping, and when do you need them?
At RAJA, there are three different types of shipping tubes: round, square and triangular. Which one should you choose?

1. Round cardboard tubes for shipping

The round cardboard tubes are the most popular cardboard tubes for shipping. They are very suitable for sending documents, maps, photos, building plans and pictures, and are therefore relevant in the academic field, architectural offices, agencies, museums, etc. They stand out because they can be reused again and again. This is partly because they are closed with a plastic lid at each end, which means that they can be closed several times.
We suggest these tubes if:

– The product needs to be stored or kept for a while.
– The product needs to be moved from place to place. For example, posters that need to be displayed in several places. It could also be building plans or other documents that need to be transported and presented to several different people.
– You intend to send the product by post. Here you can choose all our round cardboard tubes for mailing except the cardboard tube with a useful length of 1000 mm.

2. Square tubes for shipping

The square cardboard tubes has a big advantage for many e-commerce companies, as they can save a lot of warehouse space compared to the round cardboard tubes. Firstly, they are delivered flat and can therefore be stored as such until the product is packed in them. In addition, they can be stacked and do not roll around in the warehouse. This also means that they are easy to handle during transport.

Unlike the round tubes, the square tubes are not as suitable for recycling. Therefore, these are much more suitable for products that do not need to be transported around. These are mainly products such as wallpaper rolls, pictures for picture frames, or other products that are installed immediately by the consumer.

3. Triangular cardboard tubes for shipping

The advantages of triangular cardboard tubes are:

– They are good for being stored for a longer time in warehouses, as they are delivered plano and therefore take up less space.
– The triangular shape provides reinforced edges that protect your products from various bumps and knocks.
– The tubes are perfect for stacking in a warehouse or during transport.

The shape also ensures that the tube does not roll away.
As with the square ones, these are also not ideal for reuse. They are therefore best suited for single use. We suggest that the triangular tubes are used for rolled products with decorative purposes (such as posters). Instead, for fragile documents or other papers that need to be transported from place to place, we suggest our round cardboard tubes for shipping.
