Rajapack supports women’s work.
At Rajapack, our vocation is protection, not only through packaging.
In 2006 our president Danièle Kapel Marcovici created the Fondation RAJA Marcovici to support disadvantaged women around the world in an efficient way.
The funds we donate do not serve to plug emergencies, they are an investment, in women’s skills and in the preservation of the environment.
This morning in particular, Kapel, together with Ronan Delanoë, manager of our group and member of the Foundation’s executive committee, visited Urban Déco Concept, one of the non-profit organisations funded, which promotes the professional integration of women in the construction sector.
Across Europe, the first victims of crisis-related unemployment have been women. Urban Déco Concept played and continues to play a key role in helping them re-enter the labour market through theoretical and practical training in painting, decoration, finishing and restoration techniques.
Cathy, who has been followed by the association for more than a year, testifies:
When I found myself without a job, it was not easy, I experienced dark moments. Every now and then I would find an occasional job, but I was at the mercy of total insecurity. Then I told myself that if I did something I really liked I would succeed! I had always been good at drawing, so why not paint and varnish? I contacted Urban Déco and I was not wrong. They taught me many techniques and gave me the opportunity to collaborate on some works. Now my next goal is to set up my own business!
In French, starting one’s own business is called ‘créer ma boîte‘, ‘tocreate one’s own box‘, and we who are into packaging really like that!
In the meantime, through the Foundation, we also continue to pursue the Women & Environment’ projects. These are 5 initiatives in 5 different countries of the world in favour of the environment and women, the first victims of global change. Just today we published an interview with the project coordinator in Togo.
Once again, we have chosen effective philanthropy that responds to the emergencies of migration and climate change.
We did not just donate aid to women. We have taught them techniques. These will guarantee them work and a decent future in their home countries.
