Do you want to secure your loads during transport or for medium to long storage periods? Strapping is a great solution!
Compared to other solutions such as stretch film, it allows you to save on material consumption.
With strapping you can seal practically anything: fragile and delicate products, large pallets, single packages or bulky loads such as firewood.
The basic principle is always the same: the strap is applied to the package, secured and closed.
In this way, a wide variety of loads will be secured and secured during both storage and transport.
To achieve the best result, it is necessary to choose one with the right characteristics.
What kind of load should the straps be applied to? How heavy is the load and what pressures will it have to withstand? Will the strapping have to withstand special weather conditions? Will the strapping be manual or will it be done with a machine?
These are just some of the questions that need to be asked before purchasing.
To shed light on the characteristics of the different materials, we have summarised for you the compositions and advantages of each one and listed them in ascending order of strength:
PP (Polypropylene) strapping
- Ideal for sealing, reinforcing and securing lighter loads
- Elastic, will not deform
- Resistance up to 250kg
- Can be used for manual bundling, on automatic and semi-automatic machines
- Suitable closures: self-locking plastic buckle, security seals for iron strapping, welding seals
- Customisable
Polypropylene strapping is versatile and malleable. It is perfect for short-term storage and is very good value for money. An added value? It can be customised! You can have your strap with your logo or with a special inscription.
PET (Polyester) strapping
- Ideal for securing heavy loads and pallets
- Excellent for long-term storage due to high tension retention
- High strength up to 340 kg
- Suitable closures: security seals for iron strapping, welding seals
- Insensitive to moisture and UV rays
- Environmentally friendly: made of min. 80% recyclable material
Thanks to its strength and characteristics, polyester strapping can replace steel strapping on numerous occasions
Iron strapping
- Perfect for heavy, rigid and low compressible loads such as concrete and iron, with sharp or rounded edges such as bars, pipes, profiles and coils.
- Super strong, for very heavy loads up to 740kg
- High tensile strength, does not stretch
- Suitable for manual strapping, suitable methods are fastening with or without seals
- Available in two qualities:
- Galvanised: does not rust, is used for outdoor and long-term storage.
- Polished: economical but only recommended for internal storage.
Iron strapping has a very strong breaking strength and galvanised strapping is the best choice for long-term storage. It is advisable not to underestimate the risk of rusting due to its shiny quality and being sharp, to handle it with care.
Textile strapping
- Ideal for securing and sealing delicate and fragile products
- Extreme resistance up to 950 kg
- Withstands even the strongest pulls and can be easily retensioned
- Very simple to use and suitable for manual strapping
- A knot can be tied along the length to further increase security after sealing
Textile strapping is ideal for fragile and heavy loads. It is also particularly suitable for packaging heterogeneous products and is very tear-resistant.
An advantage over steel is that it is safer and easier to apply by hand.
