August is the perfect month to tidy up your desk in preparation for the return from holiday.
Organise it before the holidays so that when you return to the office you can start full steam ahead!
A tidy desk improves productivity, if organised properly it saves you time you would have wasted searching for pens, diaries and documents.
A messy desk, on the contrary, could cause you problems, you could lose important documents!
It is therefore worth paying attention to this aspect.
All you have to do is remember and practise these simple rules
Before you begin
First remove everything on your desk and give it a good clean. Throw away objects that you no longer use, old and useless papers and keep only the really useful and indispensable things. The tendency to hoard is widespread!
Remember
If you have a PC on your desk, always consider the space for your arms up to the elbow and the space for the mouse range.
1) Group together objects that have a similar function
The desk must be organised with a criterion!
Think about the function and use of each item and divide them up according to this principle. Pay particular attention to paper material.
Is stacking documents and pages randomly the norm for you? Do you often lose or forget something?
With the right filing systems this will no longer be a problem! Binders, folders, envelope containers should never be missing from your desk.
Especially because, besides having your documents in order, you will also be able to present them more elegantly.
2) Make sure you always have a functioning set of basic accessories
Do you often want to take notes or have to sign a document and can’t find anything to write on? Always keep a notepad and pen holder with a blue, black and red pen, multicoloured highlighters and a sharpened pencil on your desk. In addition to these, identify which accessories are indispensable and most used for you.
3) Always keep the necessary accessories at hand
Regardless of your type of work, there are items that could always come in handy. Adhesive tape, scissors, staplers, post-it notes, staple removers and markers should always be at hand. Store them in the most practical drawer close to you, in a moment of urgency they can be very useful, but choose quality so that they perform and last!
