Get your online bookshop ready for World Book Day!

Cartons, wrappers, book boxes

World Book Day is fast approaching. This year, like last year, the celebrations will probably be limited to online events and reading at home. Online bookshops and publishers are preparing super promotions for bibliophiles for the occasion.

Every year, World Book Day is celebrated in April. It’s a great time to buy more books and replenish your home library, and a good opportunity for online bookshops to increase their profits. Probably all publishing houses and bookshops are preparing promotions and discounts for this day. On this occasion, it is worth considering whether the packaging in which you send your books is appropriate – whether the books are safe in them, whether they reach your customers in perfect condition, what they say about the shop in question. If you run an online bookshop, consider whether your products are well packaged.

World Book Day

And in fact, World Book and Copyright Day is celebrated every year on 23 April. Why then? The date is symbolic of the whole of world literature, since Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega died on this very day in 1616. It is also the date of birth or death of several other famous writers.

In contrast, the holiday is celebrated on a different date in the UK – the first Thursday in March. In contrast, St George’s Day and World Book Night are celebrated there on 23 April.

The whole of April is Book Month, as International Children’s Book Day is celebrated on 2 April.

The book festival was established by UNESCO and aims to promote reading, editing and the protection of intellectual property through copyright. It was first celebrated in 1995. The day is now celebrated in more than 100 countries around the world. It was initiated in Catalonia more than 80 years ago, where roses and books were given to celebrate St George’s Day.

It is a celebration not only of book authors, but also of illustrators, publishers, editors, readers and of books themselves and reading in general. It is a day on which many events related to reading take place every year – book fairs, meetings with writers, as well as numerous promotional activities and – perhaps most pleasing to readers – substantial discounts on book purchases.

Virtually all online bookshops and publishing houses prepare many promotions and discounts for this special day. This is a real treat for all book lovers. You can do a lot of shopping and stock up on new releases on the publishing market. Bookshop owners should already be preparing for the celebrations. It’s also a good time to think about packing books for shipping. What should the ideal book box be? Is it worth using book wrappers?

Boxes and wrappers for books

The special book wrappers available on the market are eco-friendly, economical and easy to store. These are book cartons made from up to 70% recycled paper and are recyclable. Entrepreneurs who use paper packaging take care of the environment by helping to reduce waste. In addition, they are economical packaging – they are not expensive and are lightweight, so offering the opportunity to save on shipping costs. Importantly, when folded, they take up little space, so they can be easily stored.

The most popular and convenient method of packaging books is the so-called book wrappers, which are special wrappers ideally suited for online bookshops and publishing houses. This is a very simple and effective protection for books being shipped, as well as catalogues, calendars, folders and CD/DVDs, and games and posters. They are adjustable in height (from 20 to 90 mm), so you can pack both one and several books in them. They are made from 70% recycled material.

The RAJA shop also offers Multiwell book wraps, which protect the corners of books very well. They have an additional safety strap. Thanks to their adjustable height, they are suitable for small and large formats.

All book wrapping cartons are strong and sturdy, thanks to the fact that they are made of reinforced corrugated cardboard. They have deformation zones on the sides to protect the delicate corners of the books. These packs are shipped and stored folded – they do not take up much space and are extremely easy to assemble. Once they are folded, they need to be glued together with adhesive tape. Self-adhesive wrappers are also available.

The use of book wraps has only advantages, i.e.: ease of assembly, convenience of use, possibility to pack several books at once, adaptation to popular printing formats, resistance to damage, low price and light weight. In addition, the wrappers are compatible with the standards of all courier companies.

If the shipment is to contain a larger number of books, then of course a book box may be a better option. This must be a reinforced box – made of thick cardboard. You should then remember to secure the corners. It is important that the box is fitted in such a way that its contents do not move during transport.
