Applications and types of stretch film.
Stretch film (read: stretch) is commonly used to wrap heavy loads sent on a pallet, but it is also used by online shops to secure smaller but heavy shipments. What are the characteristics of stretch films and what types are there? Is eco-friendly stretch film available?
Stretch film is mainly associated with black packaging film, but there are many types available. Below are the characteristics of the film and its types and uses.
Stretch film – characteristics and use
Stretch films are used to stabilise and secure goods, mainly on pallets, but not exclusively, during transport and storage. It is mainly used in the transport industry. It is stretchable, so it can be used to quickly and effectively secure a variety of shipments, not just heavy ones. It is often used to protect books and shipments of unusual shapes and dimensions. The film is airtight, so it protects against moisture, scratching, dirt and other harmful factors. In addition, it makes it difficult for outsiders to open the parcel, so it protects its contents from theft. It is also used to stabilise shipments placed on pallets. Cargo wrapped in this way does not move during transport, even in the case of sudden manoeuvres.
Its use is quick and easy and does not require any equipment – the stretch film can be used to wrap shipments manually. The stretch film available in the RAJA shop is made of 3-layer polyethylene film. It is characterised by excellent functional properties – these include strength, resistance to tearing, cutting and puncturing. It perfectly protects shipments during transport and storage. It is also very flexible, and the adhesive layer adheres tightly to the wrapped surface, preventing accidental unwinding during transport. RAJA offers a wide range of different types of stretch film.

Coloured and black stretch foil
Coloured stretch film, including black, allows the contents of a consignment to be hidden and quickly secured. It is flexible and resistant to abrasion.
Transparent stretch foil
Transparent stretch film is used for packaging and securing various goods. Thanks to the fact that it is transparent, it is easy to see what is inside. It facilitates the storage and transport of goods. Transparent stretch film is characterised by its high elasticity, strength and versatility, and wrapping with it is easy and effortless.
Pre-stretch foil
Pre-stretch film is a pre-stretched film – an alternative to traditional stretch film. It facilitates the effective stabilisation of the load, thus minimising the risk of the load shifting during transport. The lightness of this film makes it easy to use – application requires no additional effort.
Blown type stretch foil
This type of film perfectly stabilises pallet cargo. It is made of polyethylene stretched using the ‘blown’ method, so it protects products with very sharp and protruding edges. It is stretchable up to 150% in two directions. It has an internal adhesive side. It is resistant to low temperatures.
Stretch film accessories
Various accessories can be useful when using stretch film, such as mini stretch roll dispensers, plastic dispensers for stretch film and plastic film tips. The latter enable effortless wrapping. Stretch film dispensers are practical and ergonomic, making the packer’s work significantly easier.
