… thought Rajapack and asked his supplier Hüdig + Rocholz to write a short guide on how to achieve your individual packing table.

A suitable packing area with a matching work table helps to optimise your distribution and material flow. In the following guide we would like to give you the opportunity to find out which packing station and workbench is best suited for your company.

Initial situation

First, a critique of current workplaces! Is the workplace being used optimally? Are frequently used materials in the immediate vicinity? Do you have sufficient storage areas and holders for the necessary computer equipment?

Framework conditions

You should consider how many workstations need to be arranged and what space you have available for this! It is also important to clarify whether the workstation will be used by more than one person (e.g. shift work) and consideration must be given to ease of height adjustment.

Where do the goods to be processed or packed come from?

The question arises: how will the material get to the workplace? Is there already a connection to the sliding technology or would this connection make sense? Then you may need a roller conveyor.

What are the work processes on site?

Is there assembly at the workplace? How much space do you need available? Do you pack the goods completely on site? Then the storage area for packaging twine, documentation and forms must be taken into account. If electronic processing is to take place at the workplace, the location of the printer, PC handle and monitor should also be considered. If assembly is to be carried out on the workstation, storage space and special handles for tools must be considered.

What will be packed?

Here you should ask yourself what weight your goods are. With large weights or widely varying box sizes, a lifting table or manipulatable working height would make sense. To choose the right size of the table it is important to know the size of the boxes, products or containers at the packing station.

What kind of packaging is it?

If you need more boxes on the workplace, it would be practical to equip the table with a tray or add a mobile box tray. It is also important which other packaging materials will be used. You may need a cutting rack or additional bins and shelves.

Where do the goods go?

What sliding technology is used? You may need a roller conveyor. If your products are packed on a pallet, then it is important to think about a suitable location for the production station in order to keep procedures to a minimum.
