In the autumn and pre-Christmas season, the volume of boxes sent out and thus the volume of packaged products increases. This effect is automatically reflected in the consumption of wrapping paper, which has seen an increase of up to 20% compared to the first half of the year. Compared to the autumn and summer seasons, the popularity and purchase of wrapping paper is rapidly climbing by more than 50%. With each passing year, these figures are increasing. The autumn and pre-Christmas season has already begun and reaches its peak in November.

Many processes experience a number of changes over time. Some will change minimally and some will experience a marked evolution. However, papermaking has not undergone a major revolution (since its discovery around 105 AD in China). Basic raw materials such as wood or old waste paper are cleaned, broken down into small parts and then mixed with water to form a slurry, a mushy “paper” mixture. The individual fibres are further crushed until a uniform mass is formed. This mixture of fibres is dispersed on

a continuously moving sieve. After the water has been coagulated, the residual water or moisture is additionally sucked out. The result is a paper web containing cellulose fibres. This web is further compressed, dried and further refined, smoothed and cut according to the desired paper properties – and voilà – the paper sheet is ready!

Today, we have up to 3,000 different types of paper available. The Rajapack range also includes a number of different variants. Wrapping paper rolls, sheets, in brown or white, in various weights from 60 g/m2 up to industrial quality 125 g/m2, tissue papers etc. Wrapping papers of 60 g/m2 are ideal as filler or for wrapping and securing products in boxes. The flat weight of 70 g/m2 is recommended for packaging goods, but also for filling packages with heavy products. Paper in 90 g/m2 is suitable for packaging heavy items or in a higher weight of 125 g/m2 for heavy edged goods. The advantage of wrapping paper on a roll in the range of more than 500 m is the adaptation to any length of the packaged product. The paper in sheets facilitates the packaging of smaller items up to 120 cm, and in the case of smaller packaging volumes, it serves as a practical interlining between more sensitive products or as their coverage and protection from dust.
