What is tissue paper?

Silk paper is a type of fine, coloured paper with various weights from approx. 18 to 25 g/m2, which is used for various packaging of sensible or luxury goods, for decoration or for creative work. Everyone has certainly come across this type of paper, whether in a shoe box from a newly bought shoe, as a wrapping for flowers from a florist or arranged in various flower shapes at parties.

Using tissue paper

Hedvábný papírIn the commercial sphere, tissue papers are valued for their elegant appearance and are therefore most often used for wrapping higher value items such as perfumes, jewellery boxes, clothing, wine, spirits… In online shops, the item is simply wrapped in paper and placed in a postal box, which is shipped to the customer. In a brick-and-mortar shop, various fashion accessories are wrapped in fine paper and placed in a paper bag addressed to the customer. It is also used by retailers as a filler for boxes containing valuable contents, for interleaving or for attractively wrapping glassware, ceramics, leather handbags, leather wallets or other fragile or sensitive goods. Many retailers also request tissue paper printing with their own logo and advertising text.

Silk paper is also very often used for creative decorative work such as scrapbooking to create unique photo albums and greeting cards, for decoration at weddings and parties in the form of flowers in the form of dahlias, which are known as pom poms. Last but not least, it is also purchased by florists and packing services for decorative and packing purposes.

How to make a decorative flower from tissue paper?

The silk flower is suitable for decorating gift baskets or boxes. It consists of three parts: tissue paper in two colours and a suitable ribbon. There are over 13 colours to choose from in the Rajapack shop, ranging from pink, cream, black, white, red, gold and other attractive colours.

1. To make it, you need two sheets of tissue paper, ribbon, office tape and scissors: 2. Cut off one thicker strip of purple paper, fold it accordion-style and then fold it in half to make a thin stem. Then fold the green paper in half lengthwise:

3. Now fold the strip of green paper you have just folded around the purple stem, always keeping the stem firmly in the middle. To achieve the floral shape, make sure to squeeze the green paper as you wrap it: 4. The first step is completed:

5. Now the outer part of the flower follows. Fold the purple paper in half lengthwise… 6. … and wrap it around the green flower…

7. Press the stem firmly in the middle and tie a ribbon around it: 8. In the last step, just cut off the excess paper and the decorative flower is ready!
