Tips on how to wrap not only corporate gifts in style

4min read 01/12/2021

Customer care is one of the most basic priorities in maintaining a relationship. One way to please your clients is, of course, with gifts. These not only provide a pleasant surprise, but also show how important the customer is. But equally important is the packaging itself. Environmentally friendly packaging is becoming an increasingly popular choice. In the run-up to Christmas, RAJA offers some advice on how to use eco-friendly packaging when wrapping (not only) corporate gifts.

A properly wrapped gift has always been and will always be a sign of greater care and concern for others. It is the packaging itself that catches the eye – it is the first thing we see when we receive the gift. It can arouse enthusiasm and higher expectations, but sometimes it can be disappointing. And this applies to both personal gifts and corporate ones. Careful and aesthetically pleasing packaging is now an essential part of communicating with customers and clients, even more so as the end of the year approaches.

The psychology of packaging is very important. It’s about the excitement itself, which is enhanced by appropriate packaging, even though we may have no idea what will be in the box. Receiving a gift that is unsightly or even damaged at first sight is never pleasant. Itis therefore very important to deliver the gift in order, so it does not pay to skimp on the quality of the packaging,” says Gabriela Fabianová, RAJA ‘s country manager, adding: ” Leaving a good first impression is simply key.”

Reach for an eco-friendly alternative

There are many options for gift wrapping, so the first thing to do is to know the dimensions of the gift and choose the right packaging to fit. In addition, there has been an increasing demand recently for packaging that has the least impact on the environment. RAJA has long prided itself on being environmentally friendly. “Environmental responsibility is a key strategy. Our aim is therefore to continuously expand our offer so that we can provide ever more environmentally friendly alternatives. Already more than 50 percent of our products are environmentally friendly,” says Fabiánová.

The basic eco-friendly materials used include recyclable cartons, boxes and packaging made from natural raw materials or packaging that can be reused. In addition to the versatile recyclable cardboard box, paper bags are among the most popular. Their advantage is especially their quick and easy gift wrapping. They are not only suitable for personal gifts, when a tag with a name or a wish is added to the bag, but also as a corporate gift wrapping with a company imprint.

An eco-friendly option are gift bags made from kraft, i.e. recycled paper, or so-called ZEROTREE bags. These are made from cotton residues combined with natural resources such as grass. They are then reinforced at the bottom with recycled cardboard.

Be imaginative!

But bags are not the only way to pack a bottle or a book. You can also use cardboard boxes or, for the smallest gifts, mini cartons. These are usually specially adapted for gift wrapping glass bottles, for example. Recyclable paper or cardboard envelopes for sending photos, calendars or books are also environmentally friendly.

An alternative option is decorative gift boxes, for example with a magnetic closure, which do not need to be wrapped in additional decorative packaging. Elegant boxes can be chosen for gifts such as jewellery, cosmetics or sweets, and can also be used practically in the home, so that the packaging itself becomes a gift.

In addition to suitable packaging, it is also important to carefully select the filling, which protects the gift from shocks and possible damage. The ideal solution is tissue paper, which is made from recycled materials, without the use of chlorine and acids. Another possible filler is the so-called SizzlePak, which are shavings of kraft material used to protect products made of fragile material – for example, jars or bottles. The filler can also have a decorative role and can be matched with company colours, for example, or complemented with a company logo.

Traditional and eco at the same time

Do you like traditional-looking gifts and can’t get enough of wrapping paper? A suitable selection of decorative wrapping paper will also help nature. For example, there is recycled kraft paper, which is also tear-resistant. This can then be complemented with lycra ribbon, made from plant fibres, which can be used not only in place of ribbon but also as an interior decoration.

“Our packaging is made from renewable materials such as paper or cardboard. By recycling them, for example, another product can be made from packaging that has already been used once. We therefore operate on the principles of a circular economy, where we try to reduce the large amount of packaging. We design packaging so that it requires less material and can be recycled or reused,” Fabiánová describes RAJA’s environmental commitments.
