Packaging is usually made of strong and elastic materials so that it can protect against impact and shock. Therefore, it can be challenging to recycle packaging properly. In this post, we focus on how you can recycle and dispose of packaging in a safe and environmentally friendly way. We will focus on bubble wrap, foam wrap and paper packaging

Product protection is at the heart of everything we do at RAJA, it’s what makes protective packaging one of our most important and popular areas. These products are designed and engineered to provide optimal protection during transport and storage, whether it’s in the form of rigid blocks, soft padding, water resistance or protection against electricity.

Can bubble wrap be recycled?
As one of the most widely used packaging materials, a common question we get from our customers is; “can bubble wrap be recycled?” The good news is that yes, bubble wrap can be recycled. Most municipalities can collect this along with other residual waste

Can bubble wrappers be recycled?
Bubble envelopes are made of a combination of polyethylene and paper with shock-absorbing air bubbles on the inside and paper on the outside with a soft surface that can easily be written on. Although the product consists of two different components, we are lucky in Norway that these can go in the residual waste, but if you want to be extra nice you can separate the plastic from the paper and throw it in separate waste bins (residual waste and paper).

Is foam recyclable?
Foam wrap is a protective product that provides good stability and cushioning. At the same time it is easy to handle, cut and use. It can protect a wide range of products and packages such as wrapping, blocking or locking.

This is a product that comes in numerous shapes and thicknesses. The thin sheets you get your new sofa wrapped in can easily confuse you with paper, which it is not. Foam wrap goes as plastic packaging and should be delivered as plastic to your nearest environmental waste site unless you have your own collection/waste management arrangements.
Are packaging chips recyclable?
One of the most popular solutions for parcel filling and one you’ve undoubtedly encountered before is parcel chips. These small but strong balls provide good protection while being incredibly lightweight. But can parcel chips be recycled? Historically they have been made from similar materials to standard foam (polystyrene) making them difficult to recycle or dispose of in an environmentally friendly way.

Recently, fortunately, manufacturers of packaging chips have developed more environmentally friendly alternatives with the creation of biodegradable packaging chips. These break down naturally in the environment over time and can be produced from renewable resources, thus reducing their impact on the environment and making them simpler to dispose of.
Can you recycle packaging paper?

Paper packaging is one of our favourite protective materials. It’s lightweight, easy to store and can be used for all types of packaging applications; for wrapping, packaging, protection or presentation. Best of all, paper packaging is 100% recyclable. From thick and sturdy kraft paper for wrapping and protecting objects, to fluted paper for soft cushioning and presentation, to thin paper for wrapping delicate and concealed objects. There’s a suitable type of paper for almost every packaging need
Disposing of paper packaging is simple and easy too. The majority of paper packaging we sell is made from 100% recycled paper (the entire product is made from waste paper products) and is fully recyclable. This means it can be used again and again, and easily recycled alongside regular cardboard and paper.
