Global Recycling Day

1min read 18/03/2021

Global Recycling Day – 18 March – was created in 2018 to highlight how recycling is one of the solutions to the climate crisis. The day aims to promote recycling, as well as to present the challenges of recycling processes. The goal is to promote recycling and work towards 100% recovery of raw materials.

Recycling is an important part of the circular economy, and is also included in the UN Global Carrying Capacity Targets to 2030. Recycling helps to save natural resources, and every year the “Seventh Resource” (recyclable materials) saves over 700 million tonnes in CO2 emissions. This is expected to increase to 1 billion tonnes by 2030. There is no doubt that recycling is on the front line of the war to fight the climate crisis!

Packaging – part of the solution

Packaging plays an important role in the use of natural resources, which is why we at RAJA are working to increase the proportion of recycled materials in our packaging solutions. Both plastic and paper can be recycled, and RAJA is working on a number of initiatives to increase the proportion of recycled materials. Together with our suppliers, we are constantly developing new, more environmentally friendly packaging, both plastic made from bio-based and/or recycled materials, and cardboard/paper with the highest possible proportion of recycled materials.

You can read more about RAJA’s environmental initiatives here.

Please contact our packaging specialists on 22 51 40 00 or post@rajapack.no to discuss how you can increase the share of recycled packaging.

Global Recycling Day is organised by the Global Recycling Foundation, and you can read more about the event here
