Packaging is usually made of strong and elastic materials to protect your products from impact and shock. Therefore, it can be difficult to recycle a package properly. In this post, we’ll look at how you can recycle and dispose of packaging in a safe and environmentally friendly way. We’ll cover bubble wrap, foam wrap, package chips and paper protection. Protecting your products is a top priority at RAJA, which is why fillers and protectors are one of our most important and popular product groups.

Can I recycle bubble wrap?
The answer is yes, bubble wrap can be recycled. It should be sorted as plastic at your local recycling centre. Also remember that bubble wrap has a long shelf life and can be reused as is the next time you need a flexible filler with good protection. It can also be handy to have bubble wrap at home, maybe it can be used when wrapping birthday presents or the next time you need to move?
Tip: If you use bubble wrap in your business, we recommend that you evaluate recycled bubble wrap that consists of 50% recycled material.

Bubble wrap is sorted as plastic at the landfill.
Can bubble envelopes be recycled?
Bubble envelopes, padded envelopes and ordinary paper envelopes (with or without plastic windows) have in common that they have to be sorted as combustible material and thus have to be thrown in the residual waste. They cannot be recycled in such a way that the material can be reused again, only the energy is recycled. The reason why envelopes do not have to be delivered in the paper waste as many may think, is that the glue on the envelope does not dissolve in the paper mill, but instead forms lumps that lead to a poorer quality of the recycled material. However, for envelopes containing plastic, you can remove the plastic part and sort it as plastic

Is foam recyclable?
You can absolutely recycle foam, this is sorted as plastic waste. Foam comes in different thicknesses and can be delivered as ready sheets in a dispenser or on a roll. Foam in sheets can sometimes be confused with paper, so you need to be aware of this

Are packet crisps recyclable?
Packing chips are a classic filling material that you are probably familiar with. These small but strong balls provide good protection while being incredibly light. But can we recycle them? Yes, Flo-pak natural packing chips are biodegradable and can be both recycled and reused. The green packing chips should be sorted as food waste as they are made from biodegradable corn starch that leaves no toxic waste.

Can paper protection be recycled?
Kraft paper, corrugated boardand tissue paper are all examples of paper protection. Getting rid of paper waste is easy. This material is 100% recyclable and is sorted as paper at the landfill. It can thus be recycled into new, strong paper material. Most of RAJA’s paper protection products are made from 100% recycled paper (this means that the entire product is made from old paper products).
Paper protection is clearly one of our favourites in protection materials, because it is both light, easy to store and suitable for all kinds of uses. Everything from wrapping, package filling and protection to presentation and decoration. If your business has a large volume of filling material, we recommend that you consider purchasing a packaging machine.
